Dr. Christopher Bibbo,

Dr. Christopher Bibbo is an Orthopaedic Microsurgical surgeon focusing on Orthoplastic limb preservation, nerve reconstruction and amputation enhancement. He is a Clinical Associate Professor of Orthopaedics at The George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences, and Clinical Professor at the Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine. Previously, he served as Chief of Foot & Ankle Surgery at the Marshfield Clinic appointed Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and Chief of Foot & Ankle Surgery & Limb Preservation at the International Center for Limb Lengthening at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore.

Dr. Bibbo completed his undergraduate training with honors at Rowan University and received his Medical Degree from the Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine as a New Jersey State Merit Scholar. He completed his year of research in the surgery lab in of Department of General Surgery, Division of Gastrointestinal Surgery at Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, where he investigated the utility of fluorimetry to predict tissue ischemia.

Dr. Bibbo post-graduate training includes a Medical Internship at Atlanticare-Atlantic City Medical Center, followed by a Residency in Orthopedic Surgery & General Surgery at Rutgers University-New Jersey Medical School/University Hospital, NJ State Trauma Center. Dr. Bibbo then completed his Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Fellowship at the nationally acclaimed OrthoCarolina/Miller Orthopaedic Clinic in Charlotte, North Carolina. Subsequently, Dr. Bibbo also completed the Penn Medicine Fellowship in Reconstructive Plastic Microsurgery in the Department of Surgery, Division of Plastic Surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

He also completed a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree program at Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine, followed by a Podiatric Surgery Residency at Warminster General Hospital, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Bibbo is Board Certified in Orthopaedic Surgery by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, in Forefoot & Ankle-Rearfoot Surgery by the American Board of Foot & Ankle Surgery, and in Podiatric Medicine by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine. Dr. Bibbo is an active member of the American College of Surgeons, a lifetime member of the World Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery, and active member of American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society, the Musculoskeletal Infection Society, the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and a Diplomate of both the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and the American Board of Podiatric Medicine.

Through his career, Dr. Bibbo has authored over 100 peer reviewed publications, 13 book chapters, 45 published abstracts, authored/co-authored over 55 podium presentations and 28 research posters on topics in Orthoplastic Surgery, Orthopaedic Surgery, Trauma, General Surgery and Podiatric Medicine & Surgery. He has presented over 130 lectures as a Visiting Professor, Grand Rounds Lecturer and Continuing Medical Education Instructor. Dr. Bibbo also serves as a reviewer/editorial board of over 30 medical journals. His research interest lay in targeted delivery of antibiotics through soft tissue flaps, the revascularization of devascularized bone and the pioneering of the vascularized nerve free flap.
